چکیده
the patient's syncopal attacks, but he had no further episodes after operation. Treatment of malignant cardiac mesothelioma has been unsuccessful in all but two instances. Our patient enjoyed normal activities for more than a year after operation, and Sagerman and co-workers1° have reported complete sterilization of a cardiac sarcoma by radiation therapy. One must conclude that early operation seems mandatory in any patient with diagnostic features which are suggestive of cardiac neoplasm.

Acute community-acquired pneumonia due to Aspergillus in presumably immunocompetent hosts: clues for recognition of a rare but fatal disease.
This article reports a case of acute community-acquired pneumonia due to Aspergillus fumigatus in a healthy patient and reviews 11 previously reported cases occurring in presumably immunocompetent hosts. The diagnosis was delayed for all patients; mortality was 100%. Clues that might suggest Aspergillus as a pathogen in community-acquired pneumonia include a chest radiograph revealing diffuse i...

OBJECTIVES Surgical lung biopsy (SLB) by videothoracoscopy for diffuse interstitial lung diseases is recommended for detailed diagnosis. Because substantial mortality and morbidity are associated with this procedure, its safety and diagnostic yield should be validated. METHODS Sixty-four patients with diffuse interstitial lung disease who received SLB by videothoracoscopy between 2007 and 201...
متن کاملBronchoscopic Cryobiopsy for the Diagnosis of Diffuse Parenchymal Lung Disease
BACKGROUND Although in some cases clinical and radiographic features may be sufficient to establish a diagnosis of diffuse parenchymal lung disease (DPLD), surgical lung biopsy is frequently required. Recently a new technique for bronchoscopic lung biopsy has been developed using flexible cryo-probes. In this study we describe our clinical experience using bronchoscopic cryobiopsy for diagnosis...
متن کاملDiagnosing fibrotic lung disease: when is high-resolution computed tomography sufficient to make a diagnosis of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis?
Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a progressive and fatal diffuse parenchymal lung disease, is defined pathologically by the pattern of usual interstitial pneumonia (UIP). Unfortunately, a surgical lung biopsy cannot be performed in all patients due to comorbidities that may significantly increase the morbidity and mortality of the procedure. High-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) has be...
متن کاملDifferential diagnosis of bronchiolitis obliterans organizing pneumonia.
The disease concept of idiopathic BOOP has emerged from a study of many open lung biopsy cases of diffuse infiltrative lung disease. The histopathologic features of idiopathic BOOP have several components: bronchiolitis obliterans, organizing pneumonia, accumulation of foamy cells in the peripheral air spaces, and interstitial infiltration of mononuclear cells. These pathologic findings are non...
